The Ilene Kouzel-Laura Whitworth Scholarship

for

Diversity in Leadership

Nicholas King (Whirling Rainbows) initiated the scholarship in 2007 in honor of his late wife, Ilene Kouzel (Standing People and CTI leader).  Shortly after the passing of CTI co-founder Laura Whitworth, Laura’s partner, Judy Pike, joined with Nick to help grow the program.

The purpose of the Kouzel-Whitworth scholarship is to enable greater participation by African, Hispanic and Native Americans in the leadership program and bring the benefits of greater diversity to the leadership community.

Full and partial scholarships are granted on the basis of financial need, passion for leadership and a clearly defined desire to have an impact in an area of interest to the applicant.  In 2007, the committee granted two scholarships for the 2008 Leadership Program year, and hopes to be able to grant more for 2009.

Applications for the 2009 calendar year will be accepted until September 30, 2008.  The committee meets during October and November to review applications and will announce its awards in December, 2008.
